Donald's fans cop backlash at rallies

VIOLENCE broke out between supporters and opponents of Donald Trump at some of the dozens of rallies organised across the US on the weekend to support the President.

While most of the trouble was limited to scuffles and verbal insults, a pro-Trump rally in downtown Berkeley, California, on Saturday afternoon local time was marked by violence.

At least 13 people were arrested, including five for unlawful contact, four for assault with a deadly weapon and one for resisting arrest.

Police confiscated weapons such as metal pipes, baseball bats and bricks.

There were multiple victims of assault and some anti-Trump protesters were throwing things at Trump supporters, police said.

Organisers of the pro-Trump rallies said their intention was to show unity in the face of "a seditious fringe” aiming to sabotage Mr Trump's vision for the country.
