Trump reacts furiously to SNL sketch

DONALD Trump has reacted furiously to a Saturday Night Live sketch mocking his state of emergency declaration to fund a border wall.

In the skit, Alec Baldwin reprised his role as the US president in a re-enactment of the White House press conference Mr Trump held this week.

"I'm here to declare a very urgent, important national emergency," Baldwin-as-Trump tells the journalists gathered in the Rose Garden.

"This is a big one, so I don't want to waste any time," he says. "That's why first I'd like to blow my own horn a little bit."

"Let's cut to the chase, folks. We need wall," he continues.

"We have a tremendous amount of drugs flowing into this country from the southern border, or the Brown Line as many people have asked me not to call it."

"Wall works, Wall makes safe" Baldwin-as-Trump claims, adding that you don't have to be smart to understand that, "and in fact it's even easier to understand if you're not that smart."

Hours after the almost seven-minute segment aired, in a tweet Mr Trump implied that Saturday Night Live and NBC should face "retribution" over the satirical sketch.

"Nothing funny about tired Saturday Night Live on Fake News NBC!" the president tweeted.

"Question is, how do the Networks get away with these total Republican hit jobs without retribution? Likewise for many other shows? Very unfair and should be looked into. This is the real Collusion!"

Baldwin has been portraying Mr Trump on SNL since 2016.

America's president is extremely sensitive to criticism.

When US morning show co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough criticised Mr Trump in 2017, he resorted to online bullying, making vulgar and deeply personal comments about the pair, but particularly Brzezinski.

"I heard poorly rated @Morning Joe speaks badly of me (don't watch anymore). Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came … to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year's Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a facelift. I said no!" the US leader tweeted.

Days later he took aim at the pair again, calling them "Crazy Joe Scarborough and dumb as a rock Mika".
