Do-not-knock knocked back

A BILL to stop door-to-door salespeople knocking on private homes has failed in parliament, with a committee rejecting the need for the bill.

Labor MP Steve Georganas put a private members bill up earlier this year, in an effort to create a voluntary register for people to stop salespeople trying to sell them products at home.

But a House of Representatives committee which looked at the bill said the government had done enough to control the industry, noting various campaigns including the Do Not Knock sticker campaign.
