Discovery Christian College first school fundraiser

THE first sod is close to being turned on the new Discovery Christian College at Agnes Water and the first school fundraiser is being held next weekend.

With the aim to have earthworks completed before Christmas and construction to begin straight after the silly season all things are on track for the January 2014 official opening.

College spokeswoman Kylie Evans said everything was going well with approvals from the Non-State Schools Accreditation Board and the Gladstone Regional Council pending.

Enrolments keep coming in for the new school with the original plan of opening from Years 7 to 9 now expanded to Years 4 to 9.

There are plans for the school to grow and offer all levels by 2017.

"We have 73 confirmed future enrolments," Ms Evans said.

The Discovery Christian College fundraiser is on Saturday cnr Agnes St and Tom Jeffery Ct, Agnes Water with a Tupperware party, sausage sizzle face painting etc.
