Disaster management meeting for southern residents

THE Gladstone Region Local Disaster Management group is hosting a community disaster management meeting and social barbecue at Wartburg on Saturday, March 16.

Disaster management issues and opportunities will be discussed at the meeting for residents of the Baffle Creek, Lowmead and Rosedale areas at the Warburg State School, 585 Coast Road, Deepwater, from 10am until noon.

Gladstone Region Local Disaster Management Group chairperson Mayor Gail Sellers said councillors and emergency service representatives would attend the meeting to share information about the regional group, the resiliency tools available and to discuss the future of the locally based emergency committee.

"We will be asking for ideas from the community on how we can work together to build resilience in the community to natural disasters such as the flood events of January and February this year," Cr Sellers said.

Cr Sellers thanked the Baffle Creek Sport and Recreation Group for assisting with the meeting and barbecue.
