MISSING: One dinosaur.

Height: two metres. Colour: brown with black stripes.

Owners miss him very much.

The event managers behind one of the Big Pineapple Music Festival stages are putting a call out for information about their missing dinosaur.

The raptor statue was perched on the Safari Stage on Saturday, alongside a much bigger dino counterpart.

The roarsome bookends to the stage became stars of many social media snaps throughout the weekend as thousands of revellers enjoyed the sounds and sights of the festival.

But on Saturday night the dinosaur was stolen as the stage was taken down. It would have taken at least three people to lift the prehistoric replica.

With plenty of on-site security and people in the area late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, organisers are scratching their heads as to how the raptor could go missing.

Playground Promotions event co-ordinator Maxim Claes said the team was stunned that someone could have stolen one of their heavy and expensive props.

"It was an awesome day, everything went well, but during the breakdown period of the Safari Stage, the raptor was stolen," Mr Claes said. "I'd say it would have been between midnight and 4am on Sunday.

"It's not light, you would need probably three people to carry it, it's not something you could just throw in the car.

"Who knows, maybe someone took it back to Clive Palmer thinking it was his."

Perhaps it was the sheer rush of the theft, or maybe it was the dinosaur telling us something, but the creature's tail was left behind in the haste.

Anyone with information should phone PoliceLink on 131444.
