UPDATE:

A TRANSPORT and Main Roads spokesperson said the Gladstone Ports Corporation investigated reports of an oil spill near the yacht club on Friday morning, however no evidence of a spill was found.

March 5:

GLADSTONE Harbour Master's office confirmed they had received a report of an amount of diesel in the water around Auckland Inlet.

A concerned fisherman told the Observer there was a strong smell of diesel, and he also said the water was greasy.

A spokesperson from the harbour master's office said they were looking into the matter.
