Did witness to Wayne Dover's death exaggerate?

A WITNESS to Wayne Dover's death has been accused of exaggerating what he saw to make himself out to be a "local hero".

Nathaniel James Bierton told the court he saw three men stomping on Mr Dover's head when he left The Factory nightclub in the early hours of November 30, 2013.

Matthew John Hill and brothers Blake Nathan Goldsworthy and Wade Leigh Goldsworthy have pleaded not guilty at the Brisbane Supreme Court to the manslaughter of Mr Dover.

Mr Bierton told the court he saw three men stomping on the back of Mr Dover's head.

But in a fiery exchange with Wade Goldsworthy's lawyer Simon Lewis, Mr Bierton admitted he told police he saw two men attacking Mr Dover.

Mr Lewis said Mr Bierton's claim he rushed over to break up the fight was incorrect as video footage showed it took him about 15 seconds to get there. A suggestion Mr Bierton rejected.

"How long do you think it should have taken me? Is there a time I should have made it in? 13 seconds? 12 seconds? 10 seconds?" Mr Bierton said.

Mr Lewis then pointed to a Facebook post Mr Bierton made after the attack and accused him of exaggerating his story.

In the post Mr Bierton claimed Mr Dover died in his arms and said the police told him he acted bravely in breaking up the fight.

"You're trying to make yourself out to be some kind of local hero aren't you?" Mr Lewis said.

Mr Dover was not declared dead until later in the night. But Mr Bierton said Mr Dover did not have a pulse when he was with him and he believed he had died.

Under cross-examination Mr Bierton said he may have been mistaken in his Facebook post or in some police statements due to "shock" but maintained he "remembered what he saw".

The trial will continue next week.
