Tannum and Boyne development sites to be sold

TANNUM Sands Civic Centre and a development lot in Boyne Island's Jacaranda Dr will also be sold by Gladstone Regional Council.

The council on Tuesday announced it would sell three sites, including the Philip St Community Precinct in Gladstone.

Council is asking developers for expressions of interest in the three sites, to short-list candidates before detailed tenders.

Estate agent Knight Frank won an initial tender to look after the marketing of the potential sales, which will begin next month.

Mayor Gail Sellers said offering the sites to the market could have private investment deliver much-needed facilities, including expanded retail and commercial offerings and new recreation facilities.

"At Tannum Sands, we need a swimming pool with community access. That could be a decider," Cr Sellers said.

"It's about what people think will be good for it - a medical clinic? Retirement village?"

She said Jacaranda Dr had been originally set for a high rise, but potential developers could submit ideas.
