Dentist sinks teeth into beauty and Botox business

IF you've seen plump Kardashian lips on Gladstone faces, it could be 2ml of lip filler from Dr David Fortier.

But Dr Fortier is not a plastic surgeon - he is a dentist.

Trained in dento-facial aesthetics, he has been practising for three months after dentists received permission from the Australian Dental Association to use Botox.

The One Dental practitioner said dentists made teeth look younger, and now they could do the same for the face.

"We're heading towards a dental spa where you get your face done," he said.

Dr Fortier can use lip fillers on patients and Botox to tighten up their faces.

"On the lips we've been using 1ml and getting good results," he said.

"For lips like the Kardashians we would use 2ml."

The dentist still deals with toothaches and root canals, but the practice has also added beauty therapist Bella Gardner to the team.

Bella, an eyebrow and eyelashes technician, travels to Gladstone from Byron Bay once every four weeks.

She was plucking and beautifying in her studio in Byron Bay last year when five women walked in from a city she had never heard of - Gladstone.

They told her to come to Gladstone, and Bella asked them to see what interest there was from their friends.

A day later she had 36 Gladstone women asking for Bella Gardner Eye Couture.

Bella has flown up at least once every four weeks since and worked out of the Oaks Grand Gladstone Hotel.

"I have seen over 300 clients in Gladstone and I love flying in here," she said.

"I also do feather brow tattoos. I have been Russian trained to tattoo eyebrow lines, and the Russians like their eyebrows looking very elegant."

Bella will be in Gladstone for the next week before flying home to Byron Bay.
