COOKING an unfamiliar meat sent dentist Deepali Behar packing on MasterChef tonight.
The UK native, who lives in WA with her husband Jordan, faced her culinary weak spot early on in the show and became the second amateur cook to be eliminated from the competitive sixth season.
As a Hindu, Behar has never eaten beef and struggled to replicate chef Shannon Bennett's fillet of beef with bone marrow crust, pommes soufflé and jus gras in tonight's pressure test.
In her second elimination challenge, she battled against Scott Yeoman, Nick Doyle and Jamie Fleming.
While Behar struggled with the delicate pommes soufflé, it was her undercooked beef that sealed her fate.
She won a spot in the Top 24 with her potato curry, and has also cooked gujiya (sweet Indian pastry), chicken curry and pot-sticker dumplings on the show.
Since leaving the MasterChef Australia kitchen, Behar has bought a dental clinic with her husband.
She soon hopes to sell homemade chutneys, jams and sweets at local markets around Perth under the name Sugar & Spice, Deepali's Delights.
