Daughter follows in mum’s royal footsteps on stage

SEEING her daughter up on stage at the Harbour Festival's Queen Quest Thursday night after winning the Junior Princess crown, was a moment Jessica Anderson once lived herself.

Twenty years ago, born-and-bred local Ms Anderson took home the crown for princess in the festival's Queen Quest competition, and her sister Gemma also took home the same crown 18 years ago.

"It was a really cool feeling," Ms Anderson said.

"To see my daughter Charlotte up on stage, the same place I stood 20 years ago; I look back on it and just think wow, because it's such a great experience."

Charlotte, 5, was looking through old albums when she saw pictures of her mum on stage wearing the crown.

"She said to me, I want to be a princess too," Ms Anderson said.

"It would be amazing if when Charlotte grows up her kids also compete and take out the crown, it would be a great family tradition."
