Eumundi drive-in double feature tonight

HOW long is it since you saw a movie for less than $4?

Probably about as long as it's been since you went to a drive-in.

The tradition of the drive-in movies will return to Eumundi Showgrounds tonight - along with the prices.

Starry Nights Outdoor Cinema will screen its first double feature, Dirty Dancing and Strictly Ballroom.

At $25 a car, that means each movie would cost less than $4 a person if there were four people in a vehicle.

Trent Harvison, of Starry Nights, said the first pop-up drive-in night at the Eumundi market car park last month had been a success, despite heavy rain.

"We thought if we could do that when it's wet, imagine what we could do if it's dry," he said.

He said the Eumundi Showgrounds was a greatvenue which had room for a bigger crowd.

Mr Harvison encouraged movie-goers to roll up by the wagon load although walk-ins were also welcome.

He said he would be happy for people to get comfortable on lounge chairs on utes, bring their own bean bags, or spread out a picnic rug on the grass.

The drive-in will have its own pop-up snack bar selling popcorn, cool drinks and movie munchies. And you can buy a pizza.

Gates will open at 5pm for a 6.30pm screening.
