Dancing for Disability Action Week

THE hokey pokey, the chicken dance, the macarena- it's all coming out in time for Disability Action Week.

Endeavour Foundation in Gladstone is kicking off Disability Action Week from September 9-15 with a big dance party.

This Friday, dozens of people with a disability and their families, carers, supporters and stakeholders will dance the night away at the Metetors Sports Club.

The event heralds the start of a week which aims to encourage positive attitudes towards people with a disability and to promote improved access to the wider community.

Learning & Lifestyle provides opportunities for people with a disability to enhance their independence, confidence, self esteem, interaction skills and life choices and the Coordinator in Gladstone, Tanya Taylor, says that the service users are excited about the forthcoming Dance Party.

"It's going to be a big night out for us all and one which the service users have been looking forward to for weeks," she said.

"This is a chance to catch up with other people from different areas of Endeavour Foundation such as our commercial enterprise in Gladstone, and to meet people from other disability sector organisations.

"Everyone has played their part in making this event one of the highlights of our social calendar so it will be a really exciting night and a great way to start Disability Action Week."
