Dad faces court over Easter killings of girls, aged 3 and 4

A MELBOURNE father has been remanded in custody over the murders of two sisters under the age of five on Sunday.

Indianna, aged three, and Savannah, aged four, were found dead at their grandmother's house on Longmuir Road in Watsonia on Easter Sunday.

Police will not reveal how the girls died.

Charles Mihayo, 35, of Watsonia, appeared in court this morning and has been remanded in custody, the ABC reported.

He will return to court on August 12.

He sat in court wearing a black jumper with his eyes forward.

The devastated mother of Savannah and Indianna said they will be "forever missed, loved, and never forgotten".

"We are utterly devastated at the loss of Savannah and Indianna," she said in a brief statement, released by police.''

Mr Mihayo who was living in a granny flat at the back of the property, was married to the girls' mother, but they separated about a year ago, News Corp reported.
