Have a coffee with... cyclist and policeman Mick Newell

WE have a coffee and chat with some of Gladstone's familiar faces.

This week we caught up with avid cyclist and local policeman Sergeant Mick Newell, branch manager of Gladstone PCYC, to find out a little more about the man behind the uniform.

On a sunny Saturday afternoon you can find me riding my bike somewhere around Gladstone or racing in Brisbane.

If I'm going to have a drink I love a Corona and I love a good red wine.

My guiltiest pleasure is black forest cake.

If I were to travel the world my first stop would be France.

I would consider my hero to be Cadel Evans because he's an Aussie battler.

The three things I'm most passionate about are cycling safety, family and State of Origin footy.

I consider Gladstone's best feature to be our Spinnaker Park marina area, it's just fantastic.

When I was young my biggest dream was to be a police officer.

When I'm entertaining guests, my go to meal would be a barbecue is always the go mate.
