Adelaide Crows’ choice puts star duo’s futures on line

THE appointment of key forward Taylor Walker as captain of the Adelaide Crows has ensured speculation about the futures of star midfielders Patrick Dangerfield and Rory Sloane will dog the club through 2015.

The trio was among five players in the leadership group considered for the role after the surprise axing of Nathan van Berlo.

Late last year, Dangerfield (pictured), who like Sloane is off contract at the end of the season, described van Berlo as "an unbelievable leader" who was without doubt the best person to lead the footy club.

Dangerfield, a free agent at the end of the coming season, and Sloane were named co-captains for 2014 with van Berlo sidelined by an Achilles problem.

Coach Brenton Sanderson, dumped for former Port assistant Phil Walsh at season's end, said at the time both were developing into "outstanding leaders".
