Crowd turns on Premier Palaszczuk at town hall meeting

A HOSTILE crowd has clashed with Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk over the Adani coal mine at a town hall meeting in Cairns.

During several questions over the contentious project, the Premier contended with choruses of catcalls and the event was disrupted for several minutes when a large group began singing and chanting against the mine.

Several protesters were escorted out of the Tuesday night meeting as others in the crowd called on them to quieten so people waiting could ask a question.

Ms Palaszczuk said she realised that people were passionate about the issue and everyone was entitled to have their say in a democracy.

"There is nothing more important too than people having a job," she said, but was interrupted by shouting.
