A 17-year-old woman woke at 3am when the intruder broke in through the front door of the William St unit on Sunday.

She told detectives he was clad in a balaclava and beanie.

The teenager, who has since turned 18, and a man, 23, confronted him.

During the frightening incident the man was struck in the leg by the crowbar after a struggle broke out.

The quick-thinking teenager was able to spray the intruder in his eyes with a can of air freshener.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
