However the score did not reflect the tone of the game.

"It wasn't easy and it was a pretty tight match even though the score was 4-0," Riley said.

A veteran of more than 30 years playing the game, Riley came across the sport as a youngster.

"I started out as an 11 year old in Mt Isa and when dad and I drove past a softball match in Mt Isa, I got interested and have not looked back," Riley explained.

"We've been doing really well and have a good mix of us oldies and the youngsters and as a team we are gelling well," Riley said.

She said the main ingredient to making sure her team functions well is communicating with the younger players by offering plenty of advice.
