Crean questions credibility of McKew's new book

AS the storm continues over ousted Labor MP and journalist Maxine McKew's new book covering how Prime Minister Juila Gillard took the leadership from Kevin Rudd, at least one senior Labor minister has questioned how she put together the tome.

Minister for Regional Australia Simon Crean, who briefly led the Labor Party in Opposition, said it was "a bit extraordinary" that he was not interviewed by Ms McKew for the book.

It follows an article in Sydney's Sunday Telegraph which published Mr Rudd's own account of his loss of power, something he said made him feel "let down and betrayed", while he described those emotions as "human".

It revisited comments made by Mr Crean at the time, saying it was a mistake to dump Mr Rudd, but warning "we can't change again".

Mr Crean said those were on the public record and well known.

"I think people are looking for new angles but the truth remains pretty solid."
