Gladstone Benaraby Rd re-opens after crash

GLADSTONE Benaraby Rd has re-opened after a serious crash closed both lanes this morning.

Police have advised that the road south of Gladstone is now clear to all traffic.

Earlier, police diverted traffic away from the scene of the crash, which happened 2km south of the Toolooa Bends.

Queensland Police had advised that traffic travelling between Tannum Sands and Gladstone would need to go via the Bruce Highway.

The two-car collision occurred at 5.44am, and traffic was diverted around the Calliope crossroads.

The head-on crash involved a Nissan dual cab towing a trailer, and a Holden Commodore station wagon.

The two drivers have been taken to Gladstone Base Hospital and both have serious injuries, but the injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The vehicles were towed from the scene. Gladstone Police are investigating.
