Win for Cox and Cox in Gladstone Kart Club meet
IT WAS a brotherly success between Jeff and Jono Cox in the in their respective Sportsman Heavy and TAG 125cc Light categories in the Calliope Bowls Club go-karts meet on Saturday.
With prize money on the line, older brother Jono helped himself to a $500 windfall for his efforts.
Publicity officer John Grother said the event had some great racing at both junior and senior level.
"There were large fields of racing in the Cadet Nine and Cadet 12 Classes of ages seven to 15," Grother said.
"The racing was great with many young drivers learning lessons of how to race fast and clean with no major incidents.
"The standout performances were from Jack Bussy in junior clubman class and he dominated with a clean sheet of wins as did Keith Butler and Ryan Fulcher."
Denis Butler also had a clean sweep in the TAG Heavy.
However, he didn't have it his own way with Craig Butler keeping him honest for the majority of the racing.
Blayke Wagner upstaged Junior Light drivers Harry Ryan and Emily Calwell.
Club Spokesperson Johnny Grother said the day was terrific despite the forecast showers and storms.
"The day was a massive success and the crowd was great and the rain held out, which was fantastic," Grother added.
The Gladstone Kart Club will have its traditional Christmas pudding race meeting on December 12.
