Courtney’s fit for modelling in healthy industry

A GROWING fitness industry has allowed a local woman to follow her modelling aspirations.

Courtney Pengelly competed in two fitness model competitions this year, returning with a fourth and a second placing.

The 20-year-old is passionate about leading a healthy lifestyle, visiting the gym up to six times per week.

She said the growth of the fitness industry was one of her favourite things about living in Gladstone.

Ms Pengelly has lived in Gladstone since she was six.

Next year, the Spinal Injuries Association employee hopes to take part in more competitions.

"I didn't go in (the competitions) expecting anything. I'm so lucky that I had a very supportive team here in Gladstone," she said.

"I have some big goals for next year."

When she is not at the gym, Ms Pengelly said she loved outdoor sports and anything that would give her an adrenaline rush.

"I like four-wheel-driving, motorbike riding, whitewater rafting, anything like that," she said.

She was humble regarding her achievements this year, crediting the help of her trainer Tamara Murphy, competition coach Whitney-Rae Freyling and partner Mitch Upton.
