Couple celebrates a shared 60th birthday bash
RIDING their motorbikes around Australia while they tick off their bucket list keeps this couple feeling young.
Jack and Denise Smyth celebrated their 60th birthdays together at the weekend with family and friends.
With Denise's birthday in January and Jack's in April, the pair decided to find a date to share.
"We did it early February so it didn't clash with anything,” Jack said. "We joined them together because ... we do everything together.”
Jack said their party was at a friend's property in Glendale, 20km north of Rockhampton.
"We had wonderful food and great company and a few drinks,” he said. "It was a great way to celebrate both birthdays with great friends.”
After first meeting on a blind date, the couple will be married 39 years in April and plan to celebrate their lives together with adventures.
Jack said they both have a lot of goals and bucket list items to cross off.
"We ride motor bikes together,” he said. "In April we're riding to Alice Springs on our Harley Davidsons.
"We booked a really nice resort to enjoy the rally, then we'll ride home. It's a couple week venture with other ventures.”
The pair have ridden their motor bikes to Cairns, Canberra, Tamworth and plan to see towns.
"We're looking forward to doing it,” Jack said. "It's something we both enjoy doing it and we've made some wonderful friends while riding motorbikes.”
With three children and six grandchildren between them, Jack said they enjoy camping and spending time with their family.
Jack said one of the stand out gifts they received for their 60th birthdays was a hand made book full of family photos and friends.
"It's a magnificent gift to be given by friends,” he said.
