Wide Bay Country Trials to bring out the best from regions

MIRIAM Vale's Gary Larson Oval has already played host to the Capras this season and is already set for its second big event, the Wide Bay Country Trials kicking off Saturday afternoon.

The best from Northern Districts Rugby League, Southern and Central Burnett and the Gladstone Raidettes will be a part of the action.

"We are very excited to be hosting it, it is good for Miriam Vale and the ground," chairman of the Gary Larson Oval enhancement group Owen Harms said.

Shortened matches for the men see the NDRL, Southern and Central sides clash once in a round robin, while Central Burnett are also bringing a women's side to tackle the Raidettes.

Four Miriam Vale players are a part of the NDRL team, Glenn Cox, Aaron Causton, Daniel Lee and Brent Crawford being selected after the first series of local competition.

Action begins at 4pm at the Miriam Vale venue, starting with the women's match before three men's clashes.

Gates open at 2pm for crowds to see the action.
