Country musicians find new place to perform

THE Elder's Gladstone Country Music Festival scheduled for the weekend was held over when the Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre was turned into an evacuation centre.

But for those who had travelled from near and far to get their boots tapping and hands clapping, the music had to go on.

The instruments were brought out at the Queensland Rail Institute to the delight of a small but enthusiastic crowd.

Everyone was offered a turn in front of the microphone and encouraged when they wanted to perform.

The night went on until they could sing no more.
