NRL fans will be counting the days until their beloved Maroons will visit Gladstone as part of the 2016 XXXX Fan Day next month.

It is exactly one month until the heroes of Queensland rugby arrive: June 14.

The massive day will include a street parade, sports luncheon, auction, coaching clinic and autograph session.

The other heroes have been the many people who have made the event happen and that incudes Gladstone Rugby League president Richard Duff.

"It has been two months in the making and we are over the moon," Duff said.

The likes of Cameron Smith will be one of the many star attractions of the event, which Duff said would be a cherished part of Gladstone sporting history.

"This is not only a history-making moment for rugby league fans throughout our region, but it is something our community really needs right now," Duff said.

"It is the most positive thing that has happened in a long time and we are both grateful and appreciative the QRL has deemed Gladstone to be the host."

Meanwhile, new Gladstone Rugby League team Rebels will debut in today's Nines tournament from 5.25pm at Calliope against Calliope.
