Council's economic strategy tweaked after feedback

EIGHT people have already contacted Gladstone Regional Council with suggestions on their Economic Development Strategy following last Monday's public meeting.

The council is formulating a new economic strategy, after a number of major changes in the Gladstone region since the last strategy was put together in 2010.

Leadership and accountability are the key points being raised, with the community calling for the council to take point on projects.

Economic portfolio holder Karen Porter said the feedback had already resulted in some changes to the strategy.

She said that included people who were at the meeting.

"Some time has passed and people have had the chance to consider the strategy more closely after being hit with the initial ideas," Cr Porter said.

"I would like to encourage more people to make written submissions so we can keep the discussion going."

You can read the initial documents for the new Economic Development Strategy here, and email Cr Porter at karenporter@gladstonerc.qld.gov.au.
