COUNCILLOR Col Chapman is a man true to his word.

As part of his fundraising for Relay for Life, Cr Chapman agreed to have his hair dyed purple.

Yesterday in the middle of the Kin Kora Mall, Cr Chapman sat quietly in the hairdresser's chair, wondering what he'd got himself into.

"I'm a bit nervous," Cr Chapman admitted.

"I'm wondering how people will look at me."

The apprentices went to work, colouring his silver locks a vibrant shade of purple. Us Haircare in the Kin Kora Mall was happy to assist with the new look.

Manager Raelene Dickinson said the business was always happy to support Relay for Life.

As the dye was applied , Cr Chapman's face said it all.

"Words fail me at the moment," he said.

"I'm still collecting money so it will be good when everyone can see the evidence."
