Council will contribute $100,000 for QMF's Boomtown event
GLADSTONE regional council will finalise agreements with Queensland Music Festival for July's Boomtown event, which sees the council contribute $100,000.
Councillor Karen Porter objected to this recreational expenditure on Tuesday in council but Mayor Gail Sellers said the four day event not only boosts community pride but generates economic benefit.
"This is the QMF event for the year," she said.
"I believe we will come out a stronger community."
QMF will contribute $200,000 and local corporate partners will contribute a total $200,000.
