Council hands out free litter bags to cut down rubbish

FREE car litter bags are on offer as part of the Gladstone Regional Council campaign to reduce the spread of rubbish.

Councillor Col Chapman said the initiative was part of the council's illegal dumping and litter prevention strategy.

"Council contractors collect large volumes of discarded rubbish from road sides and parks," he said.

"There is no need for rubbish to be thrown out of vehicles and it is an unfortunate waste of council resources and ratepayers' money to collect this waste in addition to regular waste collections."

The litter bags are available from council offices, CouncillorConnect sessions and at the council's display at EcoFest on May 31.
