Council grants up for grabs for sports clubs

GLADSTONE sports groups can now apply for Gladstone Regional Council's sport and recreation grant programs.

Funding is available to eligible groups in the following programs:

Facility Assistance Grants Program:

• Community Projects: To fund projects that enhance and develop sport and recreation facilities which deliver long-term benefits to Gladstone Region communities; and

• Strategic Project: To deliver a significant new or upgraded sporting facility that is consistent with Gladstone Regional Council's strategic plans; and

The Club Development Grant:

• Open to eligible projects for items such as the purchasing of equipment, training of volunteers and preparing planning documents.

Gladstone region Mayor Gail Sellers said up to $100,000 was available for the Facility Assistance Grants Strategic Project; up to $60,000 for the Facility Assistance Grant Community Projects; and $1200 for Club Development Grants.

"Council actively encourages community participation in sport and recreational activities across the region and is pleased to be able to continue this successful program this financial year," Councillor Sellers said.

Applications for all grants close September 27, 2015.
