Council to demolish toilet block after arson

GLADSTONE Regional Council will demolish the public toilet block building at Joe Joseph Memorial Park on Blain Drive, West Gladstone following another suspected arson case last month.

Fire destroyed the 21-year old timber and iron building in the early hours of Saturday, June 27.

Gladstone Mayor Gail Sellers said the council had decided it would demolish the remains of the building without replacement.

"Council reached its decision based on the fact this toilet block had been the target of on-going vandalism, including suspected arson," Cr Sellers said.

"In this instance, council will not replace the facilities or continue to wear the cost of repairs from vandalism and fire."
