Cost of legal battle against Coles unknown
GLADSTONE Regional Council mayor Matt Burnett wouldn't comment on the appeal lodged by Coles in the Queensland Planning and Environment Court in response to the council's decision to deny the supermarket giant's Kirkwood Rd Coles development.
At the time Cr Burnett said he wanted a Coles but just not there.
But now due to the appeal he said "council is unable to comment".
He wouldn't estimate how much the case would cost the council as there were too many variables at this stage.
"Costs are varied dependant on the circumstances and really only escalate when an appeal can't be successfully mediated and proceed to a hearing," he said.
