Botanic gardens tours start again next month

IT DIDN'T rain in the rainforest yesterday - only sweat drops fell as one ventured through the Tondoon Botanic Gardens in Gladstone.

Luckily, it will be cooler when tours of the gardens start again on April 9.

Visitor services officer Alexis Smith works at the gardens. She explains what visitors would be in for.

"The Japanese tea house and the glorious rainforest... are some of our highlights of the tours," she said.

"We like to keep it new and interesting so we do change up the routes now and then depending on what the group wants to see.

"You get some really interested people and they stay for hours.

"Here we have two tour guides and they're very knowledgeable about the gardens and different plants."

The tours operate every Thursday just before 10am.

To book a guided tour contact Alexis Smith on 4971 4443 or email alexiss@glastonerc.gld.gov.au.
