Construction to begin on $450m Coast theme park

DEVELOPERS are poised to begin works on the $450 million ACTVENTURE theme park on the Sunshine Coast.

An application for bulk earthworks on the Steve Irwin Way site has been before Sunshine Coast Council since mid-April, and a spokesman for SANAD Capital expected the council to approve the earthworks in late July or early August.

Earthworks at the site will then begin in the final quarter of the year.

"We aim to start bulk earthworks as soon as we receive this approval from Sunshine Coast Council," CEO Bradley Sutherland announced.

SANAD Capital has compiled a short list of companies from within the Sunshine Coast to start a bidding process for the earthworks.

Three global executives have been appointed to the advisory panel spearheading ACTVENTURE.

Thinkwell Group CEO Joe Zenas, Whitewater president and CEO Geoff Chutter, and Mereha founder and managing partner Fredrik Jonsson will serve a three-year renewable term on the panel.

Mr Sutherland said he was excited to welcome the trio to the panel.

"As we move into the construction phase of ACTVENTURE, Joe, Geoff and Fredrik's expertise will add to the success of bringing a first-of-its-kind destination to the country," he said.
