Arnold's building skills rewarded
A LOCAL man stole the limelight at the Construction Skills Queensland 2011 Excellence Awards, claiming the title of Construction Trainee of the Year.
Arnold Alldridge, of RoadTek, won first place over about 80 trainees across the state - but said he was not expecting to win at all.
"It's a bit of a shock, but a pleasant shock," Mr Alldridge said.
Mr Alldridge has been working for RoadTek for three and a half years and said he was hoping to advance to a supervisor position in the future.
"I'm currently learning the ropes to being a supervisor and maybe eventually a project manager and the opportunities are there to do that," he said.
"(I'd like to) thank my supervisors for their guidance and for what they've taught me over the years and the rest of the crew for their support."
RoadTek also won the Judge's Outstanding Achievement Award, which is awarded to an organisation deserving of special industry recognition.
