Stores open ahead of Stockland redevelopment launch
WITH the official launch of Stockland Gladstone's redevelopment on the east side coming up next month, Gladstone residents are seeing the completion of several individual stores before then.
Menswear store Connor opened on Tuesday, giving men another option for clothes shopping.
While teppanyaki restaurant Ichi-maki is set to open sometime next week following a few delays, Sunshine Kebabs will reopen in the outside area, and Look Smart Alterations will also open soon.
Located where Sunshine Kebabs was between The Reject Shop and Lorna Jane at Stockland Gladstone, Connor is now a third specialty store for men's clothes.
From $10 T-shirts to collared shirts for events, a steady stream of browsers and buyers turned up for Tuesday's opening special of 20% off.
Store manager Georgina Garlando said more customers streamed through as the day escalated, but late night shopping on Thursday and the weekend may prove busier for those working.
Connor began in 2006 and the 80-store chain is going strong.
Ms Garlando said the demand was there, along with the right prices, service and quality.
Deputy Mayor Matt Burnett, who officially opened the store, said he was pleased men now had more options for shopping.
"I know all the fashion is about the ladies but the men have more choice now too," he said.
"We're the region of choice and now men in the region have some choices too."
