UPDATE: Gladstone Central excited for Spotlight
UPDATE: GLADSTONE Central Shopping Centre manager Michelle Hawkins said the centre has an agreement in place for Spotlight to move into the centre.
"We have confirmation that Spotlight will begin trading in mid to late September," she said.
"We're all very excited they're coming and it will provide some new opportunities for the centre."
She said the other traders would still be open during the process. This included the pharmacy, café, clothing shops and health and banking services.
ACCORDING to commercial property specialist Dale Ware a significant proportion of Gladstone property spaces are exchanging hands.
At the Gladstone Central Shopping Centre (Night Owl as it is commonly known) residents are about to see some huge changes.
U SAVE is moving out and Spotlight is moving in.
U SAVE has already started decommissioning and Spotlight's fit-out will begin in the next few weeks with the new store expected to be open in September.
The new store will be one of the Next Generation concept stores and will employ about 30 people.
But it will sell all the usual loved products such as party gear, craft and yarn.
Mr Ware said it's a case of 'out with the old and in with the new'.
"The coming of Spotlight will provide a fantastic opportunity for a few lucky Gladstone businesses," he said.
"Currently there are a few vacant tenancies down near the new store and I expect that these will be snapped up by savvy local business owners.
" To secure a site next to Spotlight would be a very smart move because it will be feeding off the extra foot traffic that Spotlight will generate."
