Community hall, Philip St precinct get council funds
A PUBLIC hall at Turkey Beach and a Gladstone community precinct rank within the top four highest dollar-value projects in Gladstone Regional Council's Community Services 2015/16 Budget.
Council's Community Services portfolio spokesperson Cr Maxine Brushe said carry-over funding of $5.25 million would be allocated to Stage 1a of the Philip St Communities Precinct while $160,000 would be apportioned to the Turkey Beach building.

The Philip Street Communities Precinct was first identified in the 2010 Gladstone Region Social Infrastructure Strategic Plan (SISP) as being a high priority requirement for the region.
"The project will involve relocation of the Community Advisory Service and provide a centralised location for the co-existence of a number of social services," Cr Brushe said.
She said the construction of a community hall at Turkey Beach would support community interaction by providing a new public gathering and meeting place.
"The project has involved discussions with key community groups in the area and the establishment of the hall will offer residents a practical facility which they can claim community ownership of," Cr Brushe said.
Another big winner is the redevelopment of Alf Larson/Lions Park in Miriam Vale, which is budgeted to cost $3.8 million.
