Coalition slates $200k to Moura recreational facility
MOURA sporting clubs have been promised new change room facilities in a $200,000 funding commitment from the Coalition.
Incumbent Flynn MP Ken O'Dowd was joined on Tuesday by Acting Leader of the Nationals in the Senate and shadow parliamentary secretary for regional education, Fiona Nash, to announce Moura Recreational Grounds funding, if they were successful in the election.
Mr O'Dowd said the new facilities could be used by many clubs including junior and senior rugby league, rugby union, tennis and cricket.
But he said the facilities, including new showers, could also be utilised by local events such as the Moura Coal and Country Festival, Moura Campdraft and even as a safe place during disaster events.
"The Recreational Grounds here in Moura are a great facility and provide a home to several clubs and assorted community events, and as they have grown the need for change room facilities has become overwhelming," he said.
"Moura is a community that has contributed a great deal to the local and national economy and this facility really adds to the liveability of the town.
"So with that I am pleased to be able to support this worthy local project."
