Coal destroying farms

INDEPENDENT Senate candidate Don Bambrick says exploration for coal should not be allowed on Queensland's Capricorn Coast.

Mr Bambrick said the mining companies are destroying valuable farming land and the basin of food production in Central Queensland.

“For too long mining companies have disregarded the environmental effects that they cause especially after they finish,” Mr Bambrick said. “They are not stopping water-shedding from their mine pits and they are not stopping water getting in and going around, and when it gets in they are not stopping it getting out.

“Coal miners will tell you any water coming from a coal pit should not go into a river as it's very harmful.”
