Coach urgently wanted for the BITS Saints women's team

WANTED: one coach willing to help out the BITS Aussies rules women's team.

The team has been trying to get its pre-season training under way but player Hayley Beaumont said without someone at the helm pointing them in the right direction, it had not been ideal.

"We are really struggling to find a coach," Beaumont said.

The season is fast approaching with round one scheduled for April 13 but Beaumont said the BITS women had only been able to hold one training session so far.

"We are just working on fitness stuff at the moment."

One of the reasons Beaumont said it was proving difficult to find a coach was the long hours of industry workers.

For now, Beaumont has been charged with organising the fitness training sessions and asking people to play with the club, but she said the players were in need of a coach who would be able to help with skills and technique training.

"We are kind of looking for someone that knows what they are doing.

"I'm not too fussy at the moment, just as long as they know how to play."

Despite the dire outlook for the season, Beaumont said the girls would keep training to maintain their fitness.

With more player positions available Beaumont was also encouraging women to get involved with BITS AFL.

"They don't have to know any rules, we'll teach them," she said.

"It's a really fun sport."

Last year, BITS women had a good season and Beaumont said she wanted to do just as well, if not better, this year.

"We had 23 signed up last year.

"We only just missed out on the final."

She said any women interested in playing with BITS AFL could contact her on 0434245811 or just turn up to training at 5.45pm on Tuesdays at the main beach on Millenium Esplanade, Tannum Sands.

Anyone interested in taking up the role as the girls' coach should contact Damon Stebbing on 0417818110.
