Clay target club aims for day of fun
NATHAN Busteed's weekend is going to be a big celebration.
Starting with a party for his son's first birthday on Saturday, the festive mood will continue when he arrives at Gladstone Clay Target Club on Sunday morning.
The club is having a fun day to recognise the end of the year, with ideas planned to get away from the usual shooting challenges.
"It is a little bit away from the usual, it is all about fun," Busteed, the club's president said.
"It is not about scoring at all.
"There are things like three targets and two people trying to shoot them, with people working in pairs."
The members of the club will begin the shoot at 9am, breaking for lunch before another session in the afternoon for those who are keen.
Busteed is hoping to see some new faces at the club too, saying the day is a good one for any prospective members who want to see what the sport is about.
"They should come up and have a look," he said.
"It is a great day for that and we are always welcoming new faces.
"We are open to people of all ages 12 and up, males, females and veterans and we are very family orientated."
The joy the club brings is not just in being welcoming and the shooting fun, but also binding close and making tight friendships.
All of the members this year will leave with a Christmas ham and pudding regardless of their scores.
