Clinton momentum to keep rolling

TOP LINE soccer returns to Clinton Oval tomorrow night when the second-placed and in-form Clinton takes on Berserker.

The local green-and-whites are in strong form following a 5-1 away win against Bluebirds United in the Central Queensland Premier League competition.

Assistant coach Dan Horton said a poor start fired up the players and the win was made more meritorious because Clinton was a player down.

"We started last week very poorly going down one-nil early, but our second half was exceptional playing with 10 men to score five unanswered goals to win 5-1 and when we play like that we can beat anyone in this competition," he said.

"However Berserker could be a potential banana skin for us and the past few years they haven't been very strong, but they have turned things around this year by being very competitive in all their games.

"We will have to bring our "A" game if we are to get the three points this weekend."

Horton added that key players Dom Barra and Sam Roberts will miss for a few weeks but said that the club has a lot of depth to cover for the pair.

Meanwhile BITS division three side continues its domination after it registered another win against Valleys in Biloela.

Coach Paul Blomfield praised goal-keeper Kayden Bailey for his full-stretch save and added that away games are always tough.

"I was really pleased we came away from Bilo with the three points as it's always a very tough game regardless of position on the table," Blomfield said.

"On another day we probably could have had a few more goals, but above all I was happy with the team's performance in tough conditions. "

BITS' win sets an interesting match against third-placed Clinton from 3pm on Saturday.

Centrals take on Valleys and Yaralla are up against Meteors under lights from 7pm the same day at Sun Valley and Yaralla respectively.
