UPDATE 1.30PM: Education Queensland has released a statement detailing the grief felt at the death of a Biddeston State School student.
Darling Downs south west regional director Greg Dickman said the town of Biddeston was united in grief after the tragic deaths of three people including a student from Biddeston State School.
"Within the close-knit school community there is a deep sense of sadness and shock over the sudden deaths in a local family," Mr Dickman said.
"The department has deployed teams of professional counselling and guidance personnel to the school who will provide support and monitor the needs of both staff and students for as long as needed.
"Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to those affected in their time of need."
10.30AM: Counsellors are arriving at the small, two-teacher school where the young victim of the triple shooting near Toowoomba is understood to have attended.
The small country community 25km west of Toowoomba is reeling after three people, a 52-year-old man, a 27-year-old woman and a seven-year-old boy were found dead.
They are all members of the same family.
They all died of gunshot wounds.
Counsellors are understood to be offering support to the teachers and students of Biddeston State School.
Police are investigating the possibility it was a murder-suicide.
Residents described the family as well liked although there was often police at the residence.
Biddeston has a population of about 350. About 60 students attend Biddeston State School.
