City’s mosque festival a feast for tastebuds

RESIDENTS could sample flavours of the world at the Garden City Mosque's Open Day.

The third annual event featured delicacies from across Europe, the Pacific, Asia and the Middle East.

The Islamic Society of Toowoomba organised the event and Mainul Islam said the aim of the festival was to open the mosque to the Toowoomba community.

"It's a day for people to come together and we wanted to ensure it was a day for everyone not just Muslims," Dr Islam said.

"People can come and get information on what we are about and what we are working on at the moment," he said.

"They can also sample yummy food from all around the world.

"It's nice to see people of all backgrounds and diversities coming together."

All funds raised on the day go towards helping rebuilding the mosque.
