Circus Oz shows there's more to Gladstone

ROLL up, roll up - the circus is coming to town.

Circus Oz is bringing its new show, But Wait... There's More, to Gladstone in October.

The show features acrobatics, juggling, unicycling, trapeze flying, impersonations, knockabouts and multi-skilled human exuberance.

But Wait... There's More takes a thematic approach to the circus and asks the audience to think about the speed of advertising, social media and consumption.

Circus Oz director Debra Batton said there was a lot of irony in the show.

"We comment on the consumption and infobesity in society," she said.

"But with a lot of irony because we are also trying to get the audience to watch us.

"For example, a hoop diving act takes on a gaming concept where instead of round hoops they dive through televisions.

"They dive in and out of reality."

Ms Batton said the show seamlessly engaged children and adults.

"There are moments with kids giggling at one thing and parents laughing ironically at another," she said.
