Injured man crawls from Downs truck rollover

UPDATE: THE Jackson Wandoan Rd is expected to remain closed this afternoon until a truck rollover can be cleared.

Wandoan police officer Acting Senior Constable Andrew Finall said the road would probably remain closed until about 4pm.

Traffic was this afternoon being diverted along Sundowner Rd.

1.30PM: A 55-YEAR-OLD truck driver crawled out of the wreckage of his vehicle after it rolled on Jackson-Wandoan Rd this morning.

The man suffered chest injuries but manage to escape the truck through a broken windscreen about 8am.

The Roma-based Surat Basin Gas Industry Aeromedical Service airlifted the man from the scene, between Miles and Yuleba.

RACQ CareFlight's critical care doctor and intensive care paramedic treated the man and he was flown to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.

EARLIER: AN EMERGENCY helicopter was called to airlift the driver of a truck which rolled on a Western Downs road this morning.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said it was expected the Jackson Wandoan Rd would be closed into the afternoon while the semi trailer was removed from the scene.

Crews were called to the incident, about 10km south of Wandoan, at 7.25am today.Hekl

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the truck driver was being treated for chest and arm injuries.

A crane truck has been sent from Toowoomba to right the stricken semi-trailer.
